by birtanpublished on August 14, 2020

hi everyone today we're taking a look at the updated version of the thrunite tc12 a rugged tactical looking edc flashlight the tc-12 v2 is a compact and practical

Usb rechargeable edc led flashlight ideal for military law enforcement hunting camping and other outdoor activities it comes inside a sturdy box along with a really good quality holster

A lanyard charging cable two replacement usb port seals two o-rings tail cap switch boot replacement side switch silicon insert a 3400 milliamp capacity through knight 18650 battery and of course

The manual the torch measures 140 millimeters long and 25.4 millimeters in diameter when i held the tc-12 for the first time i immediately noticed how solidly built it was

And the knurling is incredibly grippy it's made from an aircraft-grade aluminum which is machined to a very high standard the diamond knurled surfaces heat dissipation grooves and milled faces

Are flawless the double switch arrangement makes for one of the most intuitive user interfaces even though some people don't like to alter their grip between switching on the light

And changing the modes on the rear is a tail switch to power the torch on and off this is well designed with a formed end for the lanyard to attach it also allows the torch to tail stand

On flat surfaces the other button is well positioned on the side of the torch in just the right place for the thumb to control this button toggles through the light modes or activates the strobe when held

For one second the side switch is made from stainless steel and is very tactile and responsive when cycling through modes there's a small led light in the center that glows blue in all modes

Except firefly this light also indicates charging progress and will flash red when the battery is below 20 percent on the other side is a micro usb port protected by a waterproof rubber cover

This fits well and has been tested to ipx8 rating which is good to the depth of two meters assuming you've closed it properly the battery that comes with the thrunite

Tc12 v2 is a decent quality it's an 18650 cell with a total of 3 400 milliamp hours and a maximum output of 3.6 volts it took about two and a half hours to charge the battery to 70 percent

And a further two hours to fully charge the charging algorithm is slow since the current starts to drop after an hour the termination is good though and the battery will get fully charged the tc-12 v2 puts out 1100 lumens on its

Brightest modes the beam is produced by the xpl v6 cree led with a smooth reflector the throw is long with a fairly tight spot that spills out nicely

The small smooth reflector produces a sizeable hotspot with a very usable overall beam however it also accentuates the tilt shift from the cree xpl v6 emitter especially the greenish

Corona around the hot spot is very visible on light surfaces there's also a slight green yellow discoloration in the middle of the already greenish hot spot of my sample a d dome or emitter swap and or orange

Reflector are all good options to improve the tint and beam it does a very impressive job of maintaining brightness in turbo mode there will of course be a gradual

Decline once the battery starts to deplete but it holds well until then the thrunite tc12 v2 is definitely one of the best compact flashlights i've had my hands on

The build quality is as good as you could hope for and with an aluminum body construction the tc-12 feels incredibly hardy and durable impact resistant to three feet and waterproof resistant to six

Feet this light will hold up to all the challenges you throw at it the holster is well made and the included thrunite 18650 battery performs exceptionally well the inbuilt

Usb recharge feature is super handy especially if you're on a long trip with the tc12 v2 torch a spare 18650 battery and a portable power bank you'll never have to worry about running
