REVVL 4 Plus (Metro by T-Mobile) – Hands On!

by birtanpublished on November 23, 2020

What's going on everyone this is kevin here coming at you with my hands-on and first impressions video of the t-mobile revel 4 plus so let's get started so this is the t-mobile revel 4 plus i got this yesterday over at metro by t-mobile and it is offered at both metro and regular t-mobile at a msrp of 189 now the reality is is that most people probably will be getting this phone at a pretty decent discount so definitely make sure to inquire at your local carrier store

To see what the various deals are that are currently being offered but with that being said i'm really excited about this phone i also got the revel 4 and i will be getting the revel 5g pretty soon as soon as i can find one but overall the revel line from t-mobile has been very exciting for the last few years but i think it's better now than ever before so here is the box the phone does come in and it is a pretty simple box we can see right here t-mobile branding we'll open this up right now and see

What all we get i did already set up the phone for the sake of saving time here so we'll put the phone off to the side for a second and then getting deeper into the box here looks like we have another layer so we have a box within a box so in here we do have the sim card we also have the quick start guide and then we have a sim card removal tool now here is the t-mobile revel 4 plus itself now with this device we're getting a 6.52 inch display the display itself is lcd at 720p

With the dimensions of 720 by 1600. with the phone we're getting a ppi of 269. now they advertise this phone to have an 18 by 9 aspect ratio but based off of the dimensions of the display at 720×1600 that would mean that this phone has a 20×9 aspect ratio and by looking at it it does indeed look like 20×9 as well so i think they did make a mistake there but that's actually not really a huge deal because i prefer 20×9 especially nowadays because you can fit more of your social media feed for

Example you can also fit more of a single web page into the frame too because we're getting a more taller form factor here so in general i'm happy with it i think it features a pretty decent design in general now up top here we do have a notch and in that notch is a 16 megapixel front facing camera now with the revel 4 plus we're getting 64 gigabytes of internal storage and micro sd card expansion now there's no wireless charging here with the phone but we do have a fingerprint sensor on

The back so we'll give that a try right now so that was a pretty fast fingerprint sensor one more time yeah it's actually very fast which is great and we're also getting face unlock too so there are multiple methods to getting into the phone now on the back of the device we have a squared off camera module and in that camera module is a 16 megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel depth sensing camera now going into the camera app here you can see this is how things look

We can then switch over to a more zoomed in option that does use digital zoom and then we get portrait mode as well for both the rear and then the front camera too so we are able to blur out the backgrounds to get those nice portrait photos that i know everyone is into and then we also have the regular photo mode as well with the front facing camera so i'm definitely looking forward to going out and taking a variety of different photos and videos using the t-mobile level 4 plus to

Really get a good idea of the quality from this phone but so far things seem pretty good maybe the only feature that i feel like it is lacking is an ultra wide angle camera especially when there's other devices such as the moto g fast for example and the samsung galaxy a21 and even the samsung galaxy a11 all those phones have ultra wide cameras so the fact that this phone doesn't is a little bit on the disappointing side i don't know if it's a deal breaker necessarily but it certainly would have been something that would have been nice

To have now with the t-mobile revl 4 plus we have 4 gigabytes of ram and the qualcomm snapdragon 665 processor now those two things right there really are going to make this device stand out from the competition i really like that we're getting the 665 that's a great processor especially for kind of a lower end mid-range phone and then pairing it up with four gigabytes of ram will make a big difference as well now i did run a benchmark test with the device but you can see here i

Got a single core score of three one one a multi-core score of one three eight six so pretty impressive there and in general you know the software is very well optimized with the phone so you're gonna get good performance and definitely this is a step up from not only the regular t-mobile level 4 but also many other phones such as the galaxy a11 and even the a21 this does have a better processor than both of those devices again the

Processor is really where we're going to be getting the most value out of this phone in particular because this processor is typically found in much more expensive devices now another benefit of having that processor is that we do get 4k video recording with this phone at 30fps so another nice bonus that you typically find with more expensive devices but it is here to be found with the revel 4 plus now the t-mobile level 4 plus features a pretty large 4 000 milliamp hour internal battery

Which is another great thing to have as well so this phone will easily get you through an entire day if not more than that even with heavy usage so that's always great to see the software on here is android 10. it definitely feels like a very close to stock variant of the software as well which is excellent too and another interesting thing with the revel 4 plus is that we're getting nfc so if you're someone that likes to use google pay for example or anything else really that involves mobile

Payments then nfc is certainly a good feature to have and we do have it here with the phone but now that we've gone over the major specifications of the device let's now take a closer look at the hardware i already talked quite a bit about the front panel here and you can see the display even though it is 720p is a good looking display with very decent colors it also gets decently bright as well and you can see the bottom bezel here is a little bit on the thicker side

And in general maybe the phone you could argue has a little bit more of an old school look kind of looks like a phone that could have been launched last year but having awesome specifications like 4 gigs of ram and the snapdragon 665 really do make this phone stand out again i know i keep saying that but those are two really impressive things about this phone now the build of the phone minus the front display which is glass is made all out of plastic but taking a look at the left

Side of the device we do have the slot for the micro sd card in sim card then on the right of the phone we have the power button and we have the volume button one of the interesting things about the power button it actually features an underglow light so for example when this phone is in the charger this button actually glows which is pretty interesting now taking a look at the top of the phone with the noise cancelling microphone 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and then on the bottom with the speaker

Microphone and usb c port for charging and data transfer now the phone itself does feel very solid by the way so even though it is plastic it does feel like it is good quality and then on the back of the phone we have kind of a matte finish with a wavy look to it so i think it looks pretty sharp in my opinion and then we have the squared off camera module we have the fingerprint sensor and with the t-mobile logo so a nice looking handset it certainly does look pretty unique as well compared to some of the other

Phones that have launched lately and i just think it's a pretty decent solid option here from t-mobile now of course i am gonna have to use this phone quite a bit before i can give you my full thoughts and conclusions about it but so far so good i'm definitely going to be comparing this phone to the regular t-mobile revel 4 to really see how much better it is and then i will be comparing it to other phones as well in the channel and doing a tips and tricks video but i hope you enjoyed this hands-on and first

Impressions video about the t-mobile revel 4 plus if you enjoyed it give it a thumbs up and with all that said i will see you in the next video i hope you have a great day
