Pixel 4 XL Complete Walkthrough: Still the Camera King?

by birtanpublished on September 17, 2020

I'm Sergeant eNOS backwards but whatever Google sent me there pixel for Excel and I've already done my real-world test I'll never write can I check out the camera and the battery and see how that does you can check out the link here or here

It's one of their but now today we're going to do the complete walkthrough on it now if you guys aren't familiar fully walking those channels where I try to go through every feature I possibly can't on no device so that you guys are better

Prepared to you be in the market to actually go buy one with that said there's a lot to go through so let's get started with the styling servers up there is the pixel for the small variety and then the pixel for Excel the

Obviously extra-large one the two devices are basically identical though the only differences are the screen size 5.7 inches on the four and six point three inches on the excel and the battery 3700 milliamps on the excel and

A concerning lis small 2,700 amps on the for the screen on either device is a 90 Hertz Pio LED display with a nineteen by nine aspect ratio and thankfully no more knotch we do have a slight bezel at the top

Compared to a lot of other flagships out right now but it doesn't bother me as much as that knotch did and I still like the clean look that it gives speaking of that clean look Google took that pretty seriously on this model we have a matte

Glass back on either model that comes in white black and orange that frankly I love it reminds me of the matte back on the new iPhone 11 pro and pro max and frankly just has a great feel in the hand that's kind of hard to explain

They even took this minimalistic design on the back and remove the fingerprint sensor as well which I have mixed feelings about Google did add some neat hardware near the front-facing camera that makes their face on lock way better

Than it's ever been performance and security wise but app developers haven't added this biometric unlocking method to their app so where I would normally have just held my finger on the sensor for a sec to log into an app or site I now

Have to go to manually entering my password in instead I'm sure this will eventually be updated but I imagine not anytime soon speaking of that front facing camera we have an 8 megapixel F 2.0 single camera at the top of the

Screen that has a 22 millimeter equivalent focal length this is compared to the 28 and 19 millimeter equivalents that the pixel 3xl had on the front now this means it's not as wide at the 19 millimeter one that we all love but at

Least it's close I guess moving around the phone we have a SIM card slot and isom that you can use Google Fire with four exam on the left our volume rocker and power button on the right nothing at the top

On both sides of it pressure sensitive areas that you can squeeze to invoke Google assistant and at the bottom we have our USB C port cable of supporting 18 watt fast charging device also supports Qi charging for wirelessly

Charging the phone as well no an interesting addition in terms of hardware is the fact they included projects solely on this device up at the top of the screen project soli is basically a miniaturized radar setup

That can be used to detect your hand in front of the screen now we've seen this before from people like LG using infrared and visual cameras and the only real difference here is apparently that the system can tell the difference

Between a cup going over it versus your hand thanks to the radar signatures of each for example right now the only thing that lets you do is wave to dismiss a call dismiss notifications etc go to the next or previous songs and

Also see notifications when you put your hand close to the screen AUSA though I've never really been able to get it to work very well and so we just don't know that's just how it's been working for me now for audio we have dual speakers that

Sound like this powering the device we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor paired with six gigs of RAM and the choice of either 64

Or 128 gigs of storage we have Wi-Fi to the tune of 802 dat 11ac and bluetooth 5.0 with optics HD for connectivity which brings us to the big thing everyone wants to see on any pixel device the camera we have dual cameras

On the back of the device a 12 point two megapixel F 1.7 aperture dual pixel phase detection autofocus 28 millimeter will then optically stabilized main camera and a 16 megapixel 2 x telephoto f/2 point for a pitcher optically

Stabilized secondary camera to switch between them you either have to tap on the screen and then use the slider or pinch to zoom as there is no tap to change cameras like most manufacturers opt for which is kind of odd I imagine

Google do this because they believe that their pinch to zoom and even past the two times optical zoom is superior to other cameras thanks to all their computational photography that they use to sharpen the

Image now you will undoubtedly notice the absence of a wide-angle lens which personally I use more than a telephoto myself so I wish it was here but considering that I use the main camera like 90 percent of the time compared to

Either the telephoto or the wide it's not a total deal-breaker for me at least something else it out to me is an impressive use of machine learning in the camera is the ability to now adjust not just the brightness but also the

Shadows separately in a viewfinder live using this you can adjust what the phone gives you for the final image and almost edit the photo before you take it which is super clever to me now let's go through all the other camera modes

Really quick for more computational photography goodness we have night sight now this essentially takes multiple photos of various exposures and combines them to create a better lit photo and even though plenty of other

Manufacturers have this ability as well now the pixel 4xl night sight still impresses the hell out of me you can also actually use night sight on the pixel to do Astro photography in other words take photos of the stars now the

Way that this works is you just use night cycle but if the phone is sitting still enough for example on a tripod or just left on the ground somehow it'll actually increase the exposure time to the point where you can get stars to

Come out next we have portrait mode which is also here of course and it mimics the shallow depth-of-field looked at some DSLR or mirrorless cameras are known to produce again computational photography on the pixel

There's a great job of these as we expect now for video the phone can shoot in up to 4k at 30 frames per second and with optical and electronic stabilization built-in panorama panorama panorama panorama panorama mode which

Does the normal stitching of multiple photos together to create a panoramic shot photosphere lets you create these 360 photos by moving the camera around and mimics the look of Google Street View basically slow-motion allows us to

Shoot in 1080p at either 1/4 or 1/8 the speed time-lapse allows you to shoot time lapses in 1080p at either 5 10 30 or 120 times normal speed for a sped-up video playground this is basically their AR camera that lets you place digital

Objects in the real world and interact with them and lens which is a shortcut to the google lens which allows you to use the camera to visually identify and search for things the pixel 4 & 4 excel run on a basically stock version of

Android 10 with the Google launcher running on top now essentially you have your home screen you can swipe to the left to get your Google feed with News customized to your search history and interests then you could swipe the other

Way to get to additional home screens widgets you've added app icons etc you can then swipe down anywhere on the screen to get your notifications and swipe further to get your quick actions which you can customize as well gesture

Navigation is enabled by default and works like this you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to your app drawer if you swipe up and hold for a sec you get to multitasking swiping in from off the left or the right of the

Screen will allow you to go back swiping up from either bottom corner will bring up Google assistant you can also use the og Android navigation keys by going into settings system gestures system navigation if you prefer as well and

Finally for anyone curious here are some common benchmark results on the device as well the pixel for the for Excel are available for purchase starting at $7.99

And $8.99 respectively you can find more info on them at the link below there guys let me know to think of this video of the pixels in the comments below also don't forget to check out the real world tests that I

Mentioned earlier it'll give you more info on like how the battery did how the phone compares to other camera phones out there etc if you like video though please thumbs up or share it's greatly appreciated and check out the rest of

The channel feel like we should see there please subscribe and ding the bell next to her subscribe so you can notify when I do new videos also there's a link below to subscribe to my email newsletter it goes out once a week it

Has all the videos that you hear plus other things that necessarily make it to video like tips and tricks and techniques like that as always though regardless thanks for watching
