iPhone 12 Vs iPhone XS CAMERA TEST! (Photo / Video Comparison)

by birtanpublished on November 25, 2020

Back everyone time to do another camera comparison this time around between the iphone 12 and the iphone 10s now i will tell you with both phones there's a lot of pros there's a lot of cons but i can definitely tell you the iphone 12 is a really good camera setup but i think the iphone 10 still has a lot going for it too now you have dual camera setups on the both of these you have a 12 megapixel wide then a 12 megapixel ultra right on the iphone 12 with the iphone 10s has that 12 megapixel wide and that 12 megapixel

Telephoto lens so one is able to zoom out more one is able to zoom in more so kind of keep that in mind as i'm going through this whole entire video now i listen to what you guys said so i did add some night mode videos or photos here too so whatever videos are dark or photos i'll go and note it i don't know if the iphone 7s has night mode but if it had it i used it i showed some videos here too so this will kind of give a broad understanding of both phones now

Looking at the very first photo again i took these in a batch of phones but taken at the exact same times for all these photos for the most part probably within seconds to minutes within each other and you can see on the very first photo the iphone 10s photos and videos will be on the left the iphone 12 videos and photos will be on the right you can see that there's already some noticeable differences and the one thing that i really wanted to showcase was the filtering that happened

On the iphone 12. you can see if i zoom into this specific area right here that the iphone 12 photo looks a little bit crisper and this little flower but whatever this is really kind of punches in your face a little bit better the iphone 10s on the other hand i think still looks pretty okay and if you added some post-processing filtering it would look a little bit better but this was out without any filtering it was just automatic this really reminds me of something like the galaxy s20 or s10s camera

That added a lot of filtering this one looks really good if you zoom into something like the top edge over here you will be able to see that again the iphone tool is able to kind of keep this a little bit more in focus and blur out the background a little bit better with less noise overall on the iphone 12 photo where the iphone 10s photo looks okay for the most part i mean it still looks really good but i would probably give the edge to the iphone 12 for this very first photo for sure now this next photo was taken at almost

The exact same location not that much going on here either and you can see that again if i zoom into this little ball thing right here it kind of gives the impression that the iphone 12 photo again it looks better it looks more crisper and the background is definitely more blurred out on the iphone 12. the iphone 10s photo doesn't look bad but you can see that the background here is still kind of in focus even the back wall you can see that you know overall it's still in focus the iphone 12 i think did a better job with

Kind of blurring out the background so for this one as well i would probably give the edge to the iphone 12. now this next photo was something that i just took these at the same time and everything and it's kind of like a beautiful photo in a way and at first glance honestly i've said this time and time again now if i go ahead and zoom into certain portions of this photo you'll be able to see that with the specific bulb or whatever this flower bulb is whatever it is you can kind of see that it kind of does look a little bit more in focus on the

Iphone 12. it looks a little bit blurry like very very subtle differences on the iphone 10s but again i don't know how many people are going to be zooming in for us to zoom in this much to see differences it doesn't really mean too much even with this little flower right here looks a little bit better same megapixel count on both photos but one thing i was able to see if i zoom into these specific leaves over here like this one for example that really stands out

You can kind of see the amount of filtering that the iphone 12 does and i actually like the filtering it does you can kind of see that this looks a little bit lighter a little bit brighter overall especially with this little leaf right here looks a little bit more dull and it looks a little bit more pixelated on the iphone 10s as well so i think for us to zoom in this much into a photo it doesn't really like matter that much but definitely in terms of these two things

I'll probably give the edge to the iphone 12 for this photo as well now this photo is a really bad photo there's no point in even talking about it that much but i mean you can kind of see if i zoom into this little portion right here i was able to see that the background is a little bit more blurred out actually i think it's more but on the iphone 10s maybe it's just me they're almost identical of course if you look at the edge of this it looks a little bit better

The edge kind of blurs in a little bit with the background here as well so very subtle differences i think the edge detection on the iphone 12 is probably better overall now this photo was taken indoors and this was actually very very interesting to me so if you look at the iphone 12 you can kind of see that you know it looks a little bit of a different color than the iphone 10s now if i can be completely honest and this may seem kind of weird i feel like the iphone 10s may be a

Little bit more accurate about how dark it was actually in that room because it was a pretty dark room but the iphone 10 but the iphone 12 did a better job at lighting up the photo i wasn't even using night mode again this was pretty bad lighting overall i think the iphone 12 photo looks overall better the 10s may have been a little bit more accurate but in the sake of it being more accurate it doesn't look as good but the iphone 12 did a better job at highlighting all those colors now funny thing is if you go and like

Zoom into this little portion it kind of looks a little bit more in focus overall on the iphone 10s than the 12 i mean again this is a very nut this is another subtle difference between both i don't know if one is completely the winner here but definitely when it comes under both i'll probably give the edge to the iphone 12 in this photo as well now this next photo is very very important it might not seem important to you right now but this is one of your most recommended things you guys told me to look at for

These next comparisons and this was the night mode on both so the iphone x does not have any night mode natively so you can go into it and like later process it make it brighter and all that stuff but this is raw features from both phones the iphone 12 does have night mode built in and these were taken at the exact same lighting conditions on both phones and look and forget the blurriness and all that stuff just look at how much brighter the xbox controller looks on the iphone 12 than on the iphone 10s

And this is with the night mode i didn't do any post processing or anything it's just all natively built into the app so night mode does make a pretty big difference overall if i go and zoom into like even the darkness aspect of the background again you can see the iphone 12 looks way more brighter and that is something that's really really good when you're taking photos in horrible conditions like this was like i'm telling you this was really bad lighting condition with a little bit of light on the background

You can see the light right here other than that the iphone 12 really did much much better in terms of the night mode capability and the same thing for this next photo as well again taken at the exact same conditions the iphone 12 did way better when it came down to the overall night mode of the photos the iphone 10s photo isn't bad and i think if you even if you just go into the stock app within ios the photos app and you can just increase the brightness i'm sure it probably

Would give you not similar results but it will probably give you a better overall viewpoint i think but the stock you know without having to spend time and editing all that stuff doesn't look better on the iphone 12 than on the iphone 10s now i did go ahead and make these kind of two same videos for this iphone box too on both phones and the you know better lighting and i was able to see that from first glance i wasn't able to see crazy differences

But once i've kind of examined it further i was able to see a subtle couple of differences first of all the iphone 12 box overall looked brighter in my opinion than the iphone 10s box but they both look very similar you guys can make up your own mind for here but i think when it comes down to the video capability in terms of this quick one that i did i do have a full video later on in this video i pretty much saw that there were a lot of similarities not a ton of differences but imagine if you're taking like a

Snapchat or a tick tock or something this is kind of the video quality difference you'd probably end up getting so that pretty much covers up the video aspect for this portrait mode or yeah portrait mode speaking about this one now this is very interesting i stood at the same spot for both phones and i just zoomed in as much as i could for both models so you can see on the iphone 12 you can only zoom in that much you know it doesn't have a telephoto lens

The iphone x does have a telephoto lens so forget the quality for a second look how much more distance you're able to zoom in without cropping without anything so that's another big deal too if you're somebody who's constantly taking a lot of photos and you want to you know get the most amount of i guess a zoom in capability imagine things like you're at a concert well not concerts anymore but you're trying to get like very far shots having that telephoto lens will allow you to get better

Overall quality photos and that's something you're going to be able to have on the iphone 10s you don't have that on the iphone 12 so that's another pretty big thing to keep in mind now this next photo was portrait mode on both phones now from first glance yet again not a ginormous difference between both but once you start zooming in i think that's when some more differences kind of you know come out but again i don't know how many people are gonna be zooming into their photos the background is pretty blurred out on

Both phones hence the name portrait mode and i don't know why the polar bear seems a little bit fatter on the iphone than us i don't know if that's accurate or not but maybe that's something else and both of them look pretty similar i guess if i go ahead and zoom into this little portion of the ear it seems like it kind of they both did kind of a weird job at blurring out the ear portion so again it is what it is it's not like a humongous deal if you're going from the iphone 10s to the iphone 12 i personally do feel like

Portrait mode is going to be about the same i don't think there's going to be a ginormous difference between them if you're going from the iphone 10s especially i mean both phones do a really good job i guess if you look at the foot right here i guess it does look a little bit better on the iphone 10s but i mean nobody's going to zoom it that much anyway now this next photo was a very basic one as well just a quick little one i took of this chair

And again not that many differences if i go and zoom into this little portion that's when you start to see the differences you see how the iphone tennis chair it depends how you look at it i mean one this one isn't more in focus this one's more blurred out i was trying to focus in on this point i let them auto focus for all photos so wherever focusing i went on it and i guess the iphone 12 did a better job even i kind of you know figuring out the leaves and over filtering over the photo but i probably

Say the iphone 12 probably one here too and this was also taken indoors and kind of bad lighting not the best lighting it was like over top lighting and you can see that the iphone 12 again did pretty decent i think this is actually a pretty apparent photo the iphone 12 photo looks much more brighter and it looks much more detailed and it looks even like in more in contrast the iphone 10s photo on the other hand doesn't look that bad but again it looks kind of like there's a bluish tint over it

It looks kind of different not my favorite cup of tea but i'd probably say this specific portion is definitely one of my probably most apparent differences the iphone 12 100 one and this was indoor this was indoor lighting so top down that's kind of what you get from this specific angle now this is another very important photo i was standing at the same exact location for both and i zoomed out as much as i could so with the telephoto lens on the iphone x you're able to zoom in but it doesn't

Have that ultra white sensor so you can't zoom out so again if you're taking a lot of like ultra wide shots like if you're trying to get like super cool looking whatever the case is you're going to be getting better looking photos from an ultrawide standpoint from the iphone 12 than on the iphone 10s now if i go and zoom in again we're using the ultrawide sensor of the iphone 12 so it's not really a super fair comparison since the 10s is using its wide angle lens

I'd probably say you know both look actually kind of the same if anything d12 actually might look a little bit better but you do have that specific quality improvement on the iphone 12 which is really cool and i don't know if this is the last photo it is you can see that both kind of focusing on different areas they both kind of look blurred out if you zoom into this length right here you may be able to see a couple of differences it seems like the iphone 10s focused in

On this specific green area as well the iphone 12 must have focused in on this area here so i don't know if one is necessarily the better you know improvement in terms of the quality but i think as a whole the iphone 12 may have done a better job in the photo department now i went ahead and made a video of both too i just used both in similar conditions and i was able to see some interesting things so i'll go ahead and show you that and the audio quality between both phones as well

So now i have the iphone tennis to the left of me in the iphone 12 camera so let's see which one is better both can do 4k 60 on the back camera but the iphone 10s has a telephoto lens iphone 12 has an ultrawide sensor the cool video the night time it's getting kind of you know dark out here so it's very interesting to see and i like to see the noise differences so when i kind of look into and zoom in here you probably see the noise differences now the iphone x i'll use this built-in microphone and hopefully you're able to

Tell the difference in the audio quality i'll go ahead and switch over to the iphone 12 microphone built-in and again maybe you're able to tell the difference in the audio quality hopefully you are so far they both seem pretty good in my opinion but i think definitely when it looks from the both maybe the iphone 12 is better i'll go ahead and zoom into this specific area and i'll go ahead and kind of shake both around to see if there's a difference both of them seem kind of you know pretty much the same to be

Honest we're back to kind of sum up this video and to answer the question which phone has the better camera i think it's quite obvious the iphone 12 does have the better camera setup and if i had to pick one i would rather pick the iphone 12 over the iphone 10s i feel like it did a better job at reducing the amount of noise and not only the photos that i saw but also the videos that you saw it was more it was less warm and it did a really good job there wasn't as much craziness i feel like ois was also better on that

Specific phone as well i don't know too much about audio quality they seem kind of about the same to be honest but i would definitely say the photos looked better and everything just looked better on the iphone 12 but i still think the iphone 7s is super relevant the funny thing is is that if i wasn't zooming in as much i don't think i would have been able to see that crazy of a difference by being completely honest i feel like both phones are great i feel like the iphone tennis is still

Good enough and if you know how to edit your photos and videos and you can color grade and increase the brightness and all that stuff on an iphone 10s then i feel like that phone will still take you you know for a really good spin in terms of the camera department so in terms of that that pretty much covers it up if you guys have any other questions or anything let me know in the comment section below hit the like button help me so much but definitely hit that subscribe button every single subscriber that we get
