How YOU Can Make Your YouTube Studio Epic! New Studio Vlog!

by birtanpublished on February 2, 2021

It's a new year so it's definitely time for a new studio space now I've been mentioning this for a long time but my family very recently moved and I was I was finally able to I actually was able to get a studio space that I really really wanted and I was able to build from the scratch I spent the last week building this just from the ground up and I'm so excited to share with you because you've been asking and I have promised to vlog this whole thing once it's set up and we are now in version one of the new tech studio I don't know how would that actually sound in an echo chamber so what is all

This stuff how did I set it up and how can you replicate it let's find out I don't have anything – what's up everyone I'm David a dad if I can figure it out you can figure it out so I'm super excited to share this with you guys I love something that I love watching I love watching studio vlog studio setups and this video is directly inspired by Gerald undone recent video where he updated his studio and as I knew I was gonna have to update mine I was like you know what we're gonna vlog it so first up let's start off with the camera we are currently using so this is the Sony

A7 3 and you can see it right so you can see the gh 5 here is gonna be our main vlogging camera for this video so this is the a7 3 I'm currently recording in 4k 30 frames per second and as you can see over here I am recording to an atomos ninja V now the reason I'm can you stay up there we go so the reason I have the a7 3 going through an adamant interview and you'll see that through this studio space but the plan here was to minimize batteries to minimize cables what I want to be able to do is sit down and start making content and that's very important so all I have to do now is I

Turn on the camera I hit record down here and it records to a solid-state memory drive that will see how I unload that in just a minute but this simplicity is key so yes the Sony a7 3 with the Tamron 17 to 28 F 2.8 at F 2.8 which with this background that we'll talk about here in just a second the 2.8 is probably not as important now what you're hearing though is audio and how are we going to show this so for audio I've got the sony k 3m kill the light reach over there there we go that works we've got the Sony k3m which is an XLR adapter for the a7 three

It plugs right into the hot shoe mount and then I've got an XLR cable that goes right along to an audio technica 88 75 R now I've been using this specific microphone for like two years now I keep thinking about upgrading it but it works so well I think the audio quality is so good that I haven't seen a need to upgrade yet and I've got this set up on a very basic just small rig clamp I've got it on a small rig like a small rig magic arm a small rig like double clamp which is a quarter twenty and a quarter twenty end that you can maneuver around here I'll show you you just unscrew this

A little bit and then you can move it around basically however you want so I just have this set up just outside a hold up can we see that I have this set up just outside a frame because you want your mullet you can see it down because you want your microphone to be as close to your face as possible if you're using a boom microphone like this so it's really close and should be giving me very crisp audio now the cool thing the way that I have this set up is I'm using kind of what Caleb from DSLR video shooter his like Visa or VESA or his if you watch

His video and I'll leave a link to below where he talks about the desk like the all-in-one desk YouTube studio this is the pole arm from that video and this is the arm that comes with that pole so this pole you just attach it straight to the desk it comes up and over and then I've got a small rig a super clamp that hooks up to the entire microphone system so again you'll see the point is sit down get going great quality and are we a little underexposed right now because of all the lights we're having I'm hoping this is gonna work out pretty well

Speaking of lights the light that I'm currently using because I have space right now which is so exciting because I haven't had space in a studio ever I'm using the aperture 120 D version 2 now this is the only thing inside of this whole video aperture did send me this light they sent me the light dome to that it's on and the honeycomb that it's currently on now I've been using LED light panels because they take up way less space mean look at this LED light panel generally take up way less space so that's what I've been using since I've

Been traveling so much and I've been doing so much video without like a dedicated studio space because look at how big this thing is it is beautiful light but it is big it's heavy one of the version2 upgrades we're gonna make is this light stand right here's just a cheapo lights and you can see that it's bowing not very good for what you want but the aperture 120 D is probably my favorite light of all time it's very high quality you can hear can you hear I've got them it has a fan built into it right here but you can't even hear it like it keeps it all nice

And cool you can see it comes to like this big bulky like control so I have a remote that we'll see in just a second but here you can actually control everything we are at 91% you can control everything from here itself and here's a bit of a close-up on the camera rig the Sony a7 3 with the k3m interface and we've got that horrible horrible micro HDMI trust me if you've been following the channel we don't like micro HDMI so that's the camera that's the light that's the main light so let's sit down and I'll show you okay back to the main camera let's set you down over here

Light off so the reason one of the real big benefits of the aperture 120 DS it comes with this controller so I can turn it off and then there you go oh that's a really cool shot where it's just the silhouette I haven't tried this before but you can turn it on you can turn it off you can control the brightness from this little dimmer switch right over here and it makes it very very just easy to use the reason it's so big is it's got two layers of diffusion inside of the light dome so it really diffuses the light it gives you that nice soft lighting which makes you look younger

And as I'm getting older I like looking younger the honeycomb that you saw in there this big thing right here is just so that there's less light spillage like these little grids they keep the light from spilling everywhere and only have it go in the direction that I want it to go we've also got this light behind me which is just a bit of an accent to give me like a glow which it was pretty nice and this is the hold on let's get up and I'll show you this now I forget if you watch the the Caleb again watch the DSLR video shooter guide to the all-in-one

YouTube studio with just the desk this is the light that he talked about in that video it's a really big LED light panel and I cannot remember the name of it or what brand it is but it'll be linked in the description now but this light is amazing you saw it has a controller too it is like a really big pan but what's nice is I'll show you here this is the bag that it fits in like the hole light system that whole thing fits into this little bag this little bag fits this whole light because this frame comes apart and then it all just folds up and

Fits right in there the thing that I started to realize this year is I love those LED light panels because of how small they are they fit into anywhere you can just use them then they give you great quality light like you can see right here on the background and again this one also has a remote control so turn it on turn it off on and then you can increase or decrease the power from where you're sitting it's plugged into the wall so no batteries except for the controller we haven't had to change those yet so for the background and this is kind of the big one so I'm using the

Savage seamless paper background I've got two colors we've got this is called regal blue and this is gray storm gray I think it's called I have this set up on what's called the impact very pull system so I haven't screwed I haven't drilled anything into the walls here this right here is the pole that is very easy all you do is you buy it and then you can expand it into your ceiling without needing to like I said you don't have to drill anything you don't have to break anything especially if you're renting a house like I'm renting this house I don't own this house so I

Couldn't drill into the wall so both of these poles oh it's much easier to see on this side both of these poles just extend up and they're very solid I mean this thing is in here is you get these three little sections right here for hanging the paper directly on I've only got two rolls so we've only got to set up and you can see it comes with this pulley system so you've got these chains and you can just raise or lower it with these chains now I have this kind of setup you may be wondering why is this all jacked up I have this set up like this so that holds it in place something

That I'm learning about seamless paper is it has a life of its own this stuff active just absolutely will of its own accord this is the hundred and seven inch width paper and that gives me the ability to have that background that you just saw so it is very wide it's really nice I love I love how this looks and I've always like two and a half years ago I tried having a seamless paper background but I didn't really know what I was doing it looked terrible i'll overlay some of that footage right now but i really like how this turned out I really like how this

Looks if you follow me on Twitter which you absolutely should you've seen like kind of the setup process behind all of this this is not as expensive as I thought it would be so with all of that put together this is the shot I get and now we're a little over supposed I love this setup this is my absolute favorite setup I've ever had in all of my youtube Erdem and all of my youtube doom so next what we're gonna do is I'm gonna show you some of the background of the studio space itself because yes the shots nice it's so easy to setup I just turn everything on I hit record and we're

Ready to go but there's some ancillary things and this is not talking about b-roll or editing so let's go on now let's go mobile again let's that was a that was a terrible Bane impersonation okay so back up and on the feet so the first thing I want to show you is this is the road psa1 boom arm now what I use this for actually the light can you see this the light that I have on here the Lux Lee viola this is my favorite small light of all time this is RGB it does everything super bright it's got this diffuser on it that you can buy love it it's amazing

It normally lives on this little pole right here so I can do overhead shots when I want to do b-roll something else this is is this is now also going to be my overhead rig then I'm gonna put a camera on when we do unboxings and stuff like that because I can just I've got a Joby ball head on it from when I cannibalized this from one of my Joby tripods just goes like this boom overhead shot for unboxings and we're probably gonna have a really big unboxing here pretty soon of my brand new camera I'm super excited for but a big part about a studio is like how do

You set up the space how do you set up like all the things because sometimes you might have to change this sometimes you might have to fix things on the fly so I set up a little space over here of like just a bunch of random stuff for that purpose you see my little desk here of random stuff I've got the allen head keys for when I got to fix this stuff cuz this is all allen key I've got my iPad this iPad is the controller for the gh 5 when I use the gh 5 is the talking head you always got to clean a lens off so this is my little lens cleaner got the top

And bottoms of all of my cameras Patrick you know what I'm talking about patrick scissors because you always got to cut stuff gaffers tape I bought this because I want to be fancy I haven't actually used it yet as you can see it's still in the wrapper and these if you only take one piece of advice from this whole video go on Amazon and buy a bag of these these are tripod adapters so you can take a quarter 20 you can take a 3/8 you can take a 1/4 and you can change all of these these are so darn useful for anything that you're doing in a studio space because a lot of brains

Use a lot of different threads for different kinds of gears so like this tripod uses a different thread then like the Joby head if I want to put the Joby head on something these I'm telling you if you only buy one thing don't even use it you don't even have to use my affiliate link buy these if you're youtuber this will save you so much hassle this space is for just like random stuff this is e 6 that's not mine that's going back I've got my battery good for my gah 5 we've got this camera mirror I bought that I saw this on somebody's video

Where it's like a mirror that you can put on your so I bought one but I haven't had a chance to use it yet just some other random stuff oh and my aperture t-shirt that they also that aperture didn't send me this t-shirt deity the microphone company sent me that when they sent me a microphone and brands I got to tell you the weight of my heart is through t-shirts trust me so let's now travel into the magical world of editing so we take the solid-state drive out of the ninja I'm not gonna do that because it's still recording we carry it over here into my

Editing space that we're now gonna have to worry about improper light color because we've now got several colors of light which we're just gonna have to live with and we come over to my so my super awesome editing station is an iMac Pro I don't actually own this I do a business lease for this because it's crazy expensive so I leased this this is just a crappy Samsung monitor but what I do with that solid-state drive is I plug it in to this hard drive reader and then it immediately loads and I can pop it into Final Cut Pro X which is my editing choice I use it I love it it works

Really fast so it's nice about this is the speed that efficiency that I was talking about I can just plug that solid-state drive straight into the hard drive reader I can then open it in Final Cut and start editing from the hard drive reader because it's a solid-state drive I don't have to transfer files or anything like that so I do everything from the hard drive itself which is speeds speeds up so much so much this space that you see right here so this little room is going to turn into the new site of the everyday dad like I used to do a livestream every week this space

Is going to turn into where we're gonna bring the live stream back so in 2020 look for that live stream again I just haven't figured out like where we're gonna put those gross green chairs probably somewhere over here the everyday wife doesn't want me to get those chairs back but we're gonna take them back because they're basically like characters in that show right this studio look we have to walk to get to places in the studio now how crazy is that I love that we have to walk to get places inside of the studio so that is going up now we're underexposed this is

All normally set up so yeah that is the whole everyday Dada new studio version 1.0 we already saw we did the Tamron 17 228 lens review from this studio space this is how we're gonna be going in to 2020 if you have any specific questions please leave a comment below if you have anything that you like now he looks like he could save some efficiencies he should he could save some time doing it this way I'd love to hear that too if you want to see how you can get really close to this image quality but you can get in like a little backpack here's the video click right here where I talked

About the best portable video platform that you can buy and it will fit in a legitimate carry-on suitcase it's crazy good thumbs up click right here to watch it thanks for watching
