Google Pixel 3a / 3a XL leaks: Release date, price, specs + more!
The next phones from Google won't be the pixel for pixel for Excel but rather new mid-range offerings designed to tap into a market outside of Google's normal high-end stomping grounds these two phones have been leaked repeatedly over the past half year and now it seems they're finally ready to drop at Google i/o 2019 so let's jump into what we know so far about the pixel 3a and pixel 3a Excel so these are Google's long awaited mid-range pixels they're set to launch mid-year at the halfway point between the pixel 3 and pixel 4 series
I like the pixel 3 before them they've been pretty extensively leaked at this point the most comprehensive look we've seen comes from a video leaked out of Ukraine in January showing off a design that on camera looks almost identical to the regular pixel three major differences include the lack of a screen not on the XL as well as only one front facing camera from head-on this is a super generic phone design and from around the back sees look well just as you'd expect any pixel to look the body of the phones supposedly is plain old polycarbonate as opposed to the standard
Pixel threes metal and glass not that you'd necessarily know given the pixel three goes a long way to disguise the look and feel of its true materials from a distance like I said these two just look like pixel phones with only a few clues as to that true identity like a couple new accent colors leaked by Evan blast recently in terms of the screen size the leaks point to a 5.6 inch eye on the pixel 3a and a 6 inch panel for the XL likely both at Full HD plus resolution with an 18 by 9 aspect ratio there's also a bonus for fans of the 3.5 millimeter jack that's been missing from
Pixels since their first year on the market both the 3a and 3a Excel will apparently include that good old fashioned audio port the other core specs are calling two recent leaks line up pretty much where you'd expect to see them with a snapdragon 670 chip pairing both models with four gigs of ram and either 32 or 64 gigs of storage as standard the 670 itself shouldn't have any trouble ring the pixel UI of full-speed but I have to admit 32 gigs is looking pretty claustrophobic so let's hope the more recent rooms of 64 gigs are closer to the mark it's also
Unclear if they'll be any microsd expandable 'ti an offer but given Google's recent track record I think that's quite unlikely the Snapdragon 670 chip said to be powering the pixel 3a isn't a super new piece of silicon but benchmarks put it just slightly below the snapdragon 835 processor used in 2017 s pixel 2 Series it's also very close to the performance of the better-known Snapdragon 710 because the silicon elf is extremely similar to that model so bottom line is there should be plenty of power to go around there are also
Signs of the pixels trademark features will make it across to these less expensive models recent spec leaks from nine to five Google point of the active edge squeeze features being alive and well along with Google's Titan M security chip and 18 what fast charging over USB PD there's no word however on any possible water or dust resistance spec battery capacity according to nine-to-five is reported to weigh in at 3000 milliamp hours for the 3a and 3404 3a XL closely matching the standard pixel threes with a lower powered chip inside though it is possible these new
Mid-range phones might enjoy a small bump in battery life over their high-end brethren one of the biggest reasons you might choose a pixel phone however is the camera and this is where the pixel 3a series could turn out to be really disruptive all the leap so far point to the rear camera being almost identical to that of the standard pixel 3 if that's the case and if Google manages to include its own proprietary pixel visual court it into the pixel 3a Excel then there's no reason these cheaper phones won't be able to go toe-to-toe with their more expensive counterparts and
Quite possibly run rings around many more expensive flagship in the process we've already seen what Google's hdr+ and nitesite technology can do running on the pixel visual core and the beauty of the visual core is that all the heavy lifting required for both of these features doesn't need to be done on the main CPU and that's vitally important for a phone like the pixel 3a whose Snapdragon 670 chip likely wouldn't be fast enough to run hdr+ and nitesite just on the CPU itself the pixel visual core is something that's unique to Google a unique strengths a unique piece
Of hardware that could really shape up the mid-range space in fact it could well be the single most important feature of these new Google phones Google's teasing the arrival of a pixel 3 a series to coincide with its Google i/o keynote presentation in Mountain View on May 7th leaked prices from carriers suggest we're looking at a pixel 3a around 500 US dollars and a 3/8 XL closer to 600 and of course will be live from i/o to bring you full coverage of both you phones let us know what you think of the pixel 3 a series based on the leek so far
The comments and be sure to subscribe for a future coverage of both phones thanks for watching and I'll see you next time
