Comparison: OnePlus 3 versus the ZTE Axon 7

by birtanpublished on October 5, 2020

Two devices that cost $400 the 1+3 and the axon seven let's do a quick comparison and see which device comes out on top on the subject of build quality and design both devices have an aluminum unibody a camera bump and antenna lines on the back it really comes down to which looks and feels better in the hand even though the 1+3 is slightly thinner and lighter the axon 7 is much more comfortable to hold it's definitely the rounded edges curved top and button placement that makes this device aesthetically pleasing but it's also much more slippery luckily ZTE does

Provide a see-through plastic case when you purchase the phone so that instantly saw my problem taking a look at all the buttons I do enjoy the alert slider on the oneplus 3 and the fact that the fingerprint scanner is on the front acting as a home button as well I wouldn't say it unlocks to the device faster but it definitely reads my fingers better I've gotten a good amount of miss reads on the axon 7 sensor on the back and even though I'm not a big fan of those small dots acting as the recent and back buttons both devices have them but I think the oneplus 3

Executed these better the buttons actually light up so you can see them when it's dark and they're a little harder to press on the Exxon 7 since they're smashed together and the navigation bar is smaller the display is a different story the axon 7 is quad HD resolution and the oneplus is 1080p the screen on the axial 7 is crisper and better with color reproduction and viewing angles but surprisingly not brighter it's only really noticeable when you hold the devices next to each other and the same goes for the resolution so overall the displays on

Both devices don't disappoint performance was very similar with both devices using a Snapdragon 820 chip and an Adreno 530 GPU but I did notice a miniscule difference when playing a heavy 3d game such as Gangster Vegas the oneplus was a bit smoother in this area as it didn't have to push out as many pixels but with other tasks both devices seemed to handle everything just fine if you want to get technical benchmark results are very similar and even though the oneplus 3 does have 6 gigabytes of RAM application reload time was on the same level for that reason I'm calling

This a tie when playing audio the axon 7 is louder and it doesn't get distorted either you can thank the dual stereo front facing speaker is that NZ teased obly atmosphere also provides a surround sound experience and the fun doesn't stop there when you plug in your headphones the hi-5 32-bit audio chip set makes listening to music a small improvement on quality when compared to the regular headphone ports on other devices the one plus three on the other hand just has a downward facing speaker and it does get loud but it gets a little distorted at its high

Points so if you love high quality audio definitely go with the axon 7 as for the battery the axon 7 does have a bigger capacity at 3,250 milliamp hours when compared to the one Plus which has 3000 milliamp hours and even though it's pushing out more pixels it still gave me a bit more battery life than the 1 plus 3 but it wasn't a huge difference I usually got over 4 hours of screen on time on both devices and to top it off charging both devices was very fast as they supported a different method of quick charge on a USB type-c port 1+1 with – charging while the axon 7 chose

To use Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 both charging methods fully charge these devices in just around an hour but I did notice the 1 plus 3 charge a little faster due to the higher voltage output and the smaller battery capacity when it came to camera quality both devices had very similar features such as optical image stabilization phase detection 4k video recording and an 8 megapixel front facing shooter the difference is that the axon 7 has a 20 megapixel rear sensor with a wide F 1.8 aperture lens while the oneplus 3 has a 16 megapixel sensor with an aperture size of f 2.0

Image quality on both devices were solid but I am leaning more towards the oneplus 3 as pictures look more natural and colors are more accurate even though there is a bit of sharpening in the final product and sometimes I do get some over exposures when not using HDR the axon on the other hand does like to over saturate pictures to make the colors pop and it does provide richer details in lower light scenarios both devices did just fine the shots taken did come out a bit noisy but they showed the area really well especially on the oneplus 3 even though pictures do look

Crisper and better in good lighting on the axon 7 I do think the oneplus 3 does a better job with low-light scenarios and color accuracy both devices are running the latest version of marshmallow with the touch of their own software modifications the axon seven runs DTES me favor 4.0 skin while the oneplus has oxygen OS three to two I do like axons approach at providing some cool new features such as the gesture and motion controls the power management options to increase the battery life and the ability to have different wallpaper on

The lockscreen every time I wake the device still it definitely has its issues such as having to tap on the Bell in the lock screen every time you want to see your notifications not having the option of removing specific tiles from the quick settings panel and do not disturb mode is harder to access since you have to find it in the system settings oxygen OS on the other hand feels like stock Android with a few customizations on top and I haven't really experienced any bugs with the software so I think the oneplus takes the cake with the UI other things worth

Mentioning is that the axon 7 works on all US major carriers while the oneplus 3 only supports AT&T and t-mobile for now they both offer 64 gigabytes of internal storage at the same price point but the axon 7 also includes a micro SD card slot for expandable storage in the end ZTE provided a great competitor at a staggering price oneplus is widely known for this motto and they did provide another decent flagship with the oneplus 3 but the axon 7 is just a better device in my opinion it has a better display sound quality battery life support for every major US carrier performs well and

Even provides an option for expandable storage still don't underestimate the oneplus 3 as its software is much more mature the fingerprint sensor and button placement is great and you can't go wrong with the camera either way no matter what device you decide to get disappointment is not something you'll experience so that's it for this video thank you so much for watching if you enjoyed it make sure to go ham on that like button check out Andrew police.com for your latest and greatest news on Android also if you'd like to learn more about the oneplus 3 definitely check out
