Asus ProArt StudioBook Pro 17 Review

by birtanpublished on November 27, 2020

This is Lisa from mobile tech review and this is the asou SPRO art studio brooke pro yes pro pro w7 hundred so this is their new high-end thin and light mobile workstation competes with the likes of the HP Z book the Dell Precision you get the idea there but it's relatively speaking not as ungodly expensive as those are and it's pretty slim and fairly light it was eighteen point four millimeters and this is five point two seven pounds which is two point three nine kilograms so for 17-inch mobile workstation but now a shout-out to our sponsor of this video blink askew know these days with social media blaring

Politics pandemics you think you're never gonna find the time to just sit down and read quality stuff educate yourself learn something you know so the idea behind blink is is that you can actually do it take some of the best non-fiction books that are available now and distills them down to 15-minute reads so you want to learn about Stephen Hawking's understanding of the universe and go for it in a 15 minute bite size they've got every topic that you can imagine so if you want to learn about how to be a better entrepreneur how to stimulate your creativity it's there so

I sat down with the app for a little me time and in fact I read Stephen Hawking's brief answers to big questions and then noticed an article about how to foster creative thinking in a world of distractions and limited time you know that was just perfectly useful now I found the articles not only informative but they were thought-provoking and a bit relaxing too because you know sitting down and reading and tuning out other stuff and if you prefer a listening audiobook style so you're driving you can also do that with this app first 100 people to visit the link

Down below in the description we'll get one week trial premium edition for free and you can get 25% off if you decide to go with it so check out that link down below and now back to our video so though you could game on this this is meant to be a mobile workstation Asuza has plenty of gaming laptops so I understand if you might like the Moores a date yeah it's slightly edgy looks of this compared to your average gaming laptop it has a 17 inch wide gamut mat IPS display non touch and it's available with Intel Core i7 – 97 58 or an intel xeon e 20 276 mobile cpu inside your

Choice and you have NVIDIA Quadro r-tx 3000 max Q graphics so that's roughly comparable to the RT X 2070 max Q in the consumer gaming laptop line a little give here a little take they're still six gigs of DDR 6 V RAM inside so again quad row because that's optimized for certain creative applications 3d rendering cat all that sort of stuff not just ability but a little bit more performance for those applications less so for gaming but still capable like I said it has a white backlit keyboard it has a sous as usual

Trick of a precision trackpad they with the touch of a button turns into a number pad because despite the fact this is 17 inches it doesn't have a dedicated number of pad and I'm ok with that because it keeps the keyboard fairly centered and gives you more room to type on as to RAM slots you can go up to 64 gigs of DDR 426 66 megahertz Ram if you go with the Xeon you can put in error correcting memory from the factory if you go with the $2,000 configuration you get that i7 you get 16 gigs of ram a 1 terabyte nvme m2 SSD inside and if you go for the xeon option that one has 32

Gigs around 2 terabytes of storage as to one terabyte nvme drives and that one is $3,000 so a lot of you might be looking at that I 7 it's plenty fast enough for a lot of folks but it's good to have options especially for those who need the ECC Ram and Michigan critical kind of work so where do you buy this thing Asus gaming laptops everywhere mobile workstations not so much our review loaner came from computer upgrade kinkaku USA so they have them for sale and they'll also do any upgrades you want if you want to get your RAM or your SSDs upgrade and you want something to

Do it for you and I have to say those prices particularly again that $2,000 core i7 configuration is pretty appealing when you compare it to the price of an HPC book with similar specs which might get you $3,500 or more so that's one of the appeals here we have a nice rigid aluminum chassis it's mil-std rated for things like shock vibration high and low temperatures and it's a metal chassis and the color they called turquoise grey it's kind of our less deep blue version of the Isuzu Book Pro duo that we reviewed and it's nice enough looking if you like that kind of

Modern angular design which I this one's pretty easy to open an upgrade we'll take a look at the internals in a bit we're gonna talk about the cooling when we do that – taking off the bottom cover is pretty easy just Phillips head screws be mindful when you put them back in that the ones in the front line here are a little bit shorter so we have a good ventilation here here out the back – these are for the stereo speakers which by the way are pretty decent then they're fairly full and loud not amazing but pretty good nice middle cover that's

What it looks like on the inside and here we have our internals – m2 SSD drive bays right there here's our two RAM slots by the way this was upgraded by computer upgrade King who provided the loaner so they put this two terabyte drive in and say Brian is kind of a small enthusiast brand you don't see that much out of prized electronics in the United States but this thing benchmarked its fastest samsung drives so hey not bad actually the Wi-Fi card is soldered on something you wouldn't expect to see with a mobile workstation but that's their efforts to get it thin

And light and since it's a good Wi-Fi six Intel ax 200 card not likely you're gonna want to change that out anyway speaker and speaker right here and when it comes to the cooling though we've got three heat pipes which is good to see even better we see that only one of them is shared so the CPU of the GP or I'm kind of pollute each other with heat too much so good job there and also it's good to see four screws on each of the heat sinks over the CPU and GPU so no tripod heatsink for uneven coverage more effective and some mini bladed fans the more blades the better and it is fairly

Effective in cooling and they say it's one the quieter laptops on the market when it's actually working hard and they're not lying that this the sound tuning on these fans is excellent and also the cooling on it's pretty good now I did notice that one of the ways that they achieve their so-called no throttle claim is by you know capping the CPU performance and not letting it run to 99 degrees centigrade when 100 degrees centigrade is allowable max but that's forgivable for a mobile workstation the benchmarks and the performance on this are quite good so I do not have

Complaints there yes it's relatively slim and light for a 17 inch mobile workstation but points are good here we have a thunderbolt 3/4 full 40 gigabit for a second three USB a ports onboard hdmi 2.0 a full-size SD card slot which is important to content creators 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and a ethernet adapter is in the box that plugs into the USB C slash Thunderbolt 3 ports so no room for an Ethernet jack but the adapter is included with the product the keyboard on this I like it actually the tactile field that damping the way the keys

Spring back all this is good travel is reasonably good and unlike the Zen Book Pro duo and some of the Susan's gaming laptops it's in a perfectly normal position there's actually a wrist rest with the trackpad below it trackpad likewise is very good I just found it not too fast not too slow very precise and again that number of pads there if you need a number pad and it's just a quick press of the little button on there it's a switch between them there is a fingerprint scanner here there is no Windows hello IR camera the display on this is pretty good

I like the panel itself I like the the gamut of it this is reasonably bright at 348 nits and it's pretty well calibrated from the factory you can see just an out of the box we measure how well it does with color accuracy and that's quite good the one thing wearing a soos is still not up there with the pro models is when they give you a calibrated high-end display the color profiles you get to choose from are ones that actual working professionals need like you want choose Adobe RGB or p3 or srgb things like that and there's a little more like there is

Soo splendid color utility options which are more situational movies and stuff like that you know and it's not as useful for professionals but hey most of you will calibrate it if you need to and then stick with that profile anyway they do have a pretty good software control panel setup there where you can control things like well which color profile you want and even something you don't see much you still sometimes see on business laptops though isn't you can set the charge only up to 80% if you wish if you're using it mostly at the desk the idea is that eventually the battery will

Last longer over the years of it's not always charged to full all the time of course you can change it to charge to fall all the time to when you need that speaking of the battery here is one thing that's kind of an ouchie how did it get it so light you got it that's right we've seen them do this with gaming laptops to a 57 watt hour of battery that is pretty small that's what you'd see on a XPS 13 maybe even so even though this has switchable graphics until you HD 630 graphics available for light or work and all that sort of thing don't expect

Great battery life out of this depends on how bright you said it and what you're doing for us mixed productivity Tassel streaming video 115 it's a brightness it went about four and a half hours on the charge it has a 230 watt power brick pretty much the same as comes with some of these zeus gaming laptops and it's a it's a sizable carrier to take with you and you will need to take it with you so that's the isuzu pro aren't 17 HW 700 their high-end mobile workstation line designed for those of you who are creative professionals who want

Something that's attractive and it's thin and it's like and it ticks all those boxes and like I said the thermals on this are pretty good I mean yes it comes with a sticker on the wrist rest that says no throttle and good luck no no no no but never throttles but they do a decent job with it and again it's quite portable it's quite well built nice screen nice keyboard so they're really heading in the right direction here on these super mobile tech review be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more cool tech videos and here that notification bill too
