Apple Sheep unfairly nit picks Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event

by birtanpublished on November 24, 2020

Oh man okay i'll save you some time we don't know how much the galaxy full 2 cost they said we'd get more information on that on september 1st but man samsung has perfectly found an encapsulated way of making a cringy event in an online format if apple's budget for quadruple you dc was like a million dollars then the budget for this event was about ten thousand dollars because it appears they hired a local news crew to do all of their acting for them there were several laugh out loud moments

Throughout this event that if you like cringe compilations i encourage you to watch the latest samsung unpacked because man wow there it is the phone looks beautiful wait is that korean yeah i've been taking classes so what do you guys think of all these new announcements cut to a million people going it was bad it was pretty pretty bad but obviously we got some new phones to talk about let's begin all right so overall i think this is not going to be remembered as a very proud

Day in samsung's history mainly because of us figuring out that so many of the phones they make just should not exist there's two versions of the galaxy note 20 for some reason i do not know why because the entry level one that starts at one thousand dollars is basically everyone i think is in agreement not worth it at all in fact i cannot find one person that's like you know what that one seems reasonable okay because it's a 6.7 inch display okay pretty massive at 1080p it's also only 60 hertz and the back of

The phone is made of plastic not glass it's locked at 128 gigs of storage which is pretty good but there's no expandable storage so you can't update that down the road and i'm not even talking about in comparison to iphones i'm just talking about in comparison to other androids on the market whether it's the oneplus 8 pro or heck if you're fine with a 1080p 60hz display the pixel 4a would probably be a decent competitor i mean it's made of plastic 350 versus a thousand dollars i guess this

Is the price you pay for the snapdragon 865 plus along with 5g modems because the note 20 does have that going for it battery of 4 300 milliamp hours a 64 megapixel camera on the back no periscope style lens so you still can zoom in a lot but knowing samsung's computational photography aside don't expect this to be industry leading when it comes to comparisons with iphones or pixels but yeah it definitely feels bizarre that you'd be getting a plastic phone at the one thousand 000

Price segment that's something you would expect in the sub 500 phone department so i for one am very confused why this phone exists why samsung thinks anyone would buy it other than maybe its sole purpose is so that they can say the note 20 lineup starts at one thousand dollars they literally made a phone just so that they could advertise a certain starting price the much better deal that i think a lot more people would be interested in is the galaxy note 20 ultra 5g whole big mouthful and an extra 300 so

That's right this is a thirteen hundred dollar phone much closer to that s20 ultra price point and this of course has that 108 megapixel sensor that performed oh so well didn't it we remember that one yeah no wasn't very good at dynamic range autofocus was a mess and overall people were not impressed with it it was a classic example of megapixel does not mean good but this gives you a massive 6.9 inch nice display thankfully at 120 hertz you got a 4500 milliamp hour battery you've got that periscope lens although this

One doesn't do that 100x space zoom oh i know we all love that so much this one is limited to about 50x digital zoom but it actually got a little bit of an improvement to 5x optical zoom instead of 4x which is what it was on the s20 ultra so honestly these ultra camera phones super zoom are always really pathetic the pixel quality is awful and i never ran into circumstances in which they were useful but it's cool you know you can zoom in a lot that's fine and of course has the s pen the

Snapdragon 865 plus this one does have expandable storage so you pay extra you can afford to pay extra for storage and internally goes up to 512 gigs which i'm sure will be well over the 1400 price margin but after seeing these two phones come out today i'm like okay samsung thirteen hundred dollars for the ultra phone with the zoom and everything that's a lot better than the s20 ultra which was fourteen hundred dollars with its massive display maybe it's just me but wouldn't it have made more sense to

Instead of having three versions of the s20 just have two don't have the ultra just do the s20 and s20 plus those are solid phones they're kind of expensive but they're decent and then reserve the ultra phone just for the note and only have one size because this 1 000 smaller note 20 that's made of plastic just feels like a total ripoff to people they don't want to be spending that much money on a phone and be so limited in that regard 1080p 60 hertz these are not things you expect from a 1

000 price target i mean this sounds like a phone apple would make let's be honest with ourselves here but there's essentially two phones now in the lineup that i feel like shouldn't exist s20 ultra should have just dropped that one didn't need to happen and the entry-level galaxy note 20 should have dropped that one they should have just had s20 s20 plus and note 20 ultra that would have been fine okay three phones for the lineup you've got 1 000 1200 and 1300 for the phone that gives

You a pin for those who care about the pen i think that would have been fine but hey samsung likes making lots of phones one of which is of course the galaxy z fold to 5g ultra i don't know how many names it has but they essentially just confirmed the design which we all kind of knew already but they love talking about how this updated design language has you know it's a better hinge than before and this is totally glass it's not a plastic display it's just glass that behaves like plastic and i'm sure

Dairy rig everything will give us a marvelous hilarious tear down showcasing how you can still damage this thing with a fingernail and that's more than likely why they did not bring the s pen to the full two and like i said earlier there's no price point they just said availability and pricing and all that will come september 1st so gotta wait another month basically to get more info on that i was most interested in this because in case you were wondering yes i do plan on buying the galaxy full 2 once it is available i bought the first one

A lot of people don't remember that but of course they all started falling apart so samsung canceled my order and then never allowed to ship it to me they said you could only pick it up at an at t or a best buy that has them in stock and i kind of live in the middle of nowhere so my local a t and best buy did not have them so i did get the z flip because samsung actually agreed to ship that to me so if they agree to ship the full two i will get it if they say it's only available in these selected stores there's probably a very low chance of me

Getting it but as soon as it's available to pre-order i will check it out i don't plan on buying the note 20 though this just seems like the s20 ultra with a pen and i've already reviewed the s20 ultra my opinions on that have probably not changed much since the last one there were some other products they announced today the galaxy tab s7 which i thought was really really funny because for the longest time people have always said oh apple will announce their own version of this and claim they

Invented it apple always announced they're the first of things when if you go back and watch their events they actually pretty rarely say they're the first to something and yet samsung in this event said for the first time ever we're bringing 120 hertz to a tablet and as soon as i watched that i was like oh man that was worded horribly i mean for one you could have said this is the first time we're bringing 120 hertz to the samsung tablets or you could have said this is the first time we're bringing 120 hertz to super amoled displays

In which case i guess if it's a tablet format that would have been a first but the intentional way they phrased it as just 120 hertz to tablets made me facepalm like oh my god apple's had you beat in this department for three years now and you want to say you're the first so i'm sure apple occasionally does it samsung occasionally does everybody claims they invented something sometimes guys okay but the specs on it seem okay you know the pricing is somewhat fair definitely much better

Than the note 20 so if you just want the wi-fi version it starts at 650 for the small galaxy tab s7 and then for the super amoled version the wi-fi only version starts at 849 and then there's an lte option that's basically another 100 on top of that and then if you want 5g on these tablets that's an extra 100 on top of that so they do get kind of pricey and what i find interesting is that with galaxy note phones you know samsung is comfortable doing like 12

Gigs of ram 16 gigs of ram but now that they're designing this laptop hybrid tablet two in one they give it six gigs of ram you know that big display with all this multitasking features they give that less ram than the phones which i i don't get but i'm still not a big fan of that stylist placement on the back that seems kind of impractical to me but of course we know how android is on tablets it's always been kind of clunky so you essentially have to convert it into a chromebook by getting the keyboard and trackpad

Case to dock it and that's how you make it work but pricing wise it kind of does undercut the ipad pro that is the latest generation but at the same time you also got to consider that there's certified refurbished 2018 ipad pros that can undercut this and because of simply just app support you know the number of pro apps you can get on the ipad vastly outweigh the number of pro apps you can get on an android tablet and also just years of support you know the ipad air 2 got seven years of updates whereas these

Tab s7s you could be spending 700 to a thousand dollars on these are probably gonna get like three years of software support so if you're buying your tablet to last and you care about productivity apps and that kind of thing i would say the ipad still absolutely has these things beat the only thing these have over the ipad is likely the display you know being an amoled and maybe some better contrast ratio and more vibrant colors and that kind of thing but i'm fine with the lcd on my ipad pro so i'm not really planning on picking up a

Tab seven because in my opinion what's on the screen matters a lot more than the screen itself so the cameras on the tab s7 also don't look too impressive it's kind of bizarre to see the rear-facing cameras be five megapixels and the front-facing camera be eight megapixels they do have the snapdragon 865 plus though which i'm glad to see basically the fastest they can get but i'm sure a12z and the a14 chip are gonna crush all of these snapdragon chips in just a couple of months they also talked a

Little bit about the galaxy watch three which is bringing back the rotating bezel it's got some health features once again it's not running watch os so i have a hard time seeing how it's going to compete and they introduced beans so yeah there's beans now you can stick them in your ears and these have active noise cancellation which is pretty good the battery life is almost as good as air pods but i'm interested to see how active noise cancellation works on these things given

They don't really have rubber tips but absolutely expect to get meme to death because there's so many bean memes already and i'm sure you'll probably be able to get them if you pre-order the note 20 or something like that these are available for pre-order tomorrow by the way note 20 tab s7 and the galaxy buds the galaxy fold 2 of course we're going to have to wait a little bit longer on other than the fact that we know now they basically have the same cameras as the note 20 they've got 120 hertz on the internal display they've got

Slimmer bezels and camera hole cutouts instead of those giant chunk bezels they used to have the design of it looks great i just don't see it really tackling any of the major issues the first galaxy fold had which was too expensive and the people designing it are not really great at designing interfaces on a tablet so spending that much money on a phone slash tablet hybrid doesn't really make a lot of sense and if they're not revealing the price today i imagine it's because it's probably not very good i expect this thing to be well over two

Thousand dollars likely but the people who have liked foldable phones before will continue to like foldables with the full two and the people who weren't sold on foldables probably aren't going to change their mind so it's just kind of leaning more into the niche what do you guys think of all the stuff samsung announced today feel free to hit me up over on twitter join my discord and talk more about this cringefest over there but first let me perform an outdoor workout i will follow along

With my tv demo bye
