A Lamb With a Main Ache | The Unbelievable Dr. Pol

published on July 2, 2020

[lambs bleating]

DR POL: Fair lamb?
– Yeah

DR POL: Of course
AUTUMN SKINNER: Yeah

DR POL: Bring it out

AUTUMN SKINNER: All right

Come on, buddy

I'm here to see Dr Pol today
because my lamb Major Payne is

limping on his right front leg

DR POL: This sheep
is called Major Payne

[laughter]

It tells us something

OK

One leg, front leg

AUTUMN SKINNER:
Front right, yep

He's a Hampshire
lamb, and he's going

to be my county fair and my
open show lamb for the year

DR POL: Looking
good shape already

He's a big one

I hope that it's something
simple and we can get it fixed

and get rolling
into show season

Welcome

See how bad he is

AUTUMN SKINNER: Come on

DR POL: Sheep
are hard to train

So then you have to train it
to stand still and be pretty

And I think the name
is very fitting

AUTUMN SKINNER: I know

Come on

DR POL: Yeah, that
is in the foot

This one now is
actually having a pain

What happened?

AUTUMN SKINNER: I don't know

He just started limping
on it about a week ago

Oh

I checked–

WOMAN: We weren't sure
if it was hoof rot

DR POL: Aye, wow, wow, wow

Yeah

He's limping a little bit
and she thinks it's foot rot

And I'm not sure if it's
really hoof rot or not

AUTUMN SKINNER: Yeah

It didn't smell
DR POL: No

AUTUMN SKINNER: I smelled it
to see if that's what it was

DR POL: No

ANNOUNCER: Hoof rot, known for
its foul smell and debilitating

pain would end Major Payne's
show season before it begins

DR POL: Hang on for a second

I'll bet– I'll bet–
yeah, here

Right there

You see that?

AUTUMN SKINNER: Yeah

DR POL: It's like an
injury right in there

When I check it over
though, it's not

It's an overgrown hoof that
has an injury in there

Let me clean it up a little bit

AUTUMN SKINNER: OK

DR POL: Hold still

We put some stuff on it
to dry it up, wrap it

There

WOMAN: There ya go

How long do you think it
will take before it heals up?

Probably about
three or four days

WOMAN: OK

AUTUMN SKINNER: Awesome

DR POL: Trim the other
feet and hopefully

everything will be good
WOMAN: Yeah

We'll put him on the
stand when we get home

and trim his feet while
we've got him out

DR POL: Oh, you can bend over

I did it

AUTUMN SKINNER: Yeah

Well, yeah

Hopefully in a couple of
days the pain will be gone,

and Major Payne can
go to the fair

OK

Thanks, Doc

DR POL: We'll see you guys

Good seeing you

With show season
starting so quickly,

we really dodged a bullet
